Part of the appeal of Fortnite is its frequent crossover events and it seems that this most recent set of hero skins has been in the works for some time. There had been multiple rumors that Aquaman would come to Fortnite and it seems that the inclusion of the character may have been withheld alongside the updates for Season 3. Now that the season is here, players can complete challenges to unlock the Aquaman skins.

To complete the Aquaman challenges, players must purchase the season 3 battle pass for 1,000 V-Bucks or 2,500 V-bucks for the deluxe version. Once players have a Fortnite battle pass they need to “Use a whirlpool at the Fortilla location.” Players will need to travel to the Southwest region of the map and be careful of henchman who will shoot players in the area. Once players get to the water they just need to swim and find a whirlpool and continue to head into it.
It should be noted that this can only be done by swimming and the challenge will not be completed if a player uses a boat. After players have done this, they will be guided back to the shore and the challenge will be complete.
There will be four more Aquaman challenges to complete before players can unlock the two Aquaman skins. Unfortunately, this means that players will likely have to wait four more weeks before they will have fully unlocked the Aquaman skins.
While Fortnite has had many crossover events, this particular set of Aquaman-based challenges is something different for the battle royale game. The prior Deadpool events set the template but now Epic Games is seemingly showing its players what it can do with the right property. Of course, some will prefer being able to buy their skins outright, but these challenges help encourage engagement with the new content.
Fortnite is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
