To put things simply, obtaining the Compound Bow in Fallout 76 requires players to reach a certain reputation rank with the Settlers, an NPC faction that was added as part of the Wastelanders update. Specifically, fans must increase their reputation with the Settlers to Ally, which requires them to go through the Cautious, Cooperative, Friendly, and Neighborly ranks. This means that it may take players a bit of time to get a Compound Bow, but they will have access to a standard Bow in the interim.

With respect to how to improve one’s reputation with the Settlers in Fallout 76, that is done by completing certain story quests, working on daily faction quests, and generally behaving in a way that supports this group of NPCs. Players can check their current reputation rank with the Settlers through the Social menu, and this allows fans to keep track of how close they are to Ally and obtaining the Compound Bow.

Once a player has reached Ally with the Settlers in FO76, getting the Compound Bow is as simple as using Bottle Caps to purchase the plan from Sunny, a vendor located in the Settler camp called Foundation. To note, players can also purchase a plan for the aforementioned standard Bow from Sunny at the Cautious reputation rank if they would like to.

One final thing to mention is that it may be possible to purchase FO76’s Compound Bow from a Raider vendor in Crater after reaching the appropriate reputation rank with that faction. However, that information has not been confirmed at this time, and thus players that have their hearts set on getting a Compound Bow may wish to start the Wastelanders update by improving their reputation with the Settlers.

Fallout 76 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
