To start, Pascal indicates that Pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can be found on the ocean floor, and indeed players can encounter them while they are hunting for sea creatures. For full clarity, this is done simply by swimming around in the sea and diving wherever bubbles appear, and occasionally a character will return to the surface with a Pearl.

However, Pascal in New Horizons is also correct in saying that Pearls on the ocean floor are fairly rare, and it will certainly take fans quite some time to locate enough of them to craft the full Mermaid set. That said, players can use another source to supplement the Pearls that they find while diving, and that source is none other than Pascal himself.

More specifically, fans can get Pascal to appear once every day by locating Scallops, and on every visit subsequent to the first one he has a chance to reward them with one of two things: a Pearl or a DIY recipe. Currently, there does not appear to be a way to determine which one of these two things the red otter will offer on any given day, but players that do not want to spend a great deal of time diving for Pearls can at least count on receiving some from Pascal over time.

In summary, players that want to get Pearls in New Horizons should simply continue to dive for sea creatures and prompt daily visits from Pascal. While this will not net players a ton of Pearls immediately, fans that are patient will eventually obtain enough of them to craft everything that they want while simultaneously receiving all of the Mermaid DIY recipes and finding all of the new creatures for ACNH’s museum.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
