To cut to the chase, there are four ways to get Relics in Civilization 6, the first of which revolves around Theological Combat. For the uninitiated, Theological Combat in Civ 6 functions very similarly to standard melee combat, and it can be initiated when the agents of two different Religions are adjacent to one another. The specific agents that are required to create Relics are Apostles that have received the Martyr promotion, which comes from building the Mont St. Michel Wonder, and a Relic is generated if one of these promoted Apostles dies in Theological Combat.

The other three ways to get Relics in Civ 6 are not something that players can control in quite the same way as the aforementioned method, but it is worth knowing about them none the less. They are as follows:
Receive one randomly from visiting a Tribal Village Retire Great General Jeanne d’Arc Discover a Natural Wonder while Suzerain of Kandy
With the different methods for creating Relics in Civilization 6 detailed, it may be worthwhile to provide some more information on these Great Works. To start, Relics distinguish themselves from other Great Works in the fact that they can be obtained throughout the entirety of a game. Additionally, it is notable that Relics typically produce +4 Faith and +8 Tourism, but if a fan is playing as Jadwiga of Poland then Relics will generate +4 Gold, +2 Culture, and +2 Faith, and if they are playing as the Kongolese then Relics will generate +2 Food, +2 Production, and +4 Gold.
From selecting a Pantheon, to founding a Religion, to creating Relics, there is a great deal to know about this system in Civilization 6. Hopefully this guide will have illuminated one potentially confusing aspect of Religion and helped players get the maximum benefit from their Temples and other Relic slots.
Civilization 6 is available for iOS, Linux, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
